This album presents a unique and spiritually resonant sequence inspired by Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber’s Rosenkranz-Sonaten ("Mystery Sonatas"), which musically portray the mysteries of the Rosary—events in the life of Christ and the Virgin Mary. The performers have curated selections from Biber’s sonatas across thematic cycles (Life, Suffering & Death, Resurrection) and interwoven them with chorales and works by Dietrich Buxtehude, J. S. Bach, and an anonymous composer.
